| HIV/AIDS Programs at the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE Phnom Penh, Cambodia: "Please help me!” Meas Kimly pleaded to the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE Homecare Team. Kimly’s husband died of HIV/AIDS just months before, leaving her homeless and pregnant with four children to care for in the streets. She was now HIV-positive, relying on her children to support the family by scouring the slums for old cans to recycle.
Kimly became an immediate priority to the Homecare Team, who helped her to find a place where she could safely deliver the baby and receive preventative prenatal drugs to reduce the risk of her baby contracting the deadly disease. Thanks to the care and immediate attention of the team, Kimly and her family are now doing well, and she has begun anti-retroviral therapy (ART). In addition, the family has been selected to receive monthly food and money for the children’s schooling. Kimly shared, “I wouldn’t get better without the help of the hospital and the Homecare team. They have done so much for my family. I am so grateful. They have provided my family with hope when we had none."
