| Recent Prayer Request
Please join us in a prayer of gratitude for the work being done at the Asharan Orphange in the lives of children like Muskan. Muskan is a 7 year old female child who was brought to Asharan Orphanage one year back by the police. She has many scars on her body and had a severe infection in her ear for which she underwent an operation. Muskan was all over the place when she came to us. As time passed by, she became more secure and her behaviour changed considerably. Today she is an adorable child. Asharan kids had a chance to participate in the inauguration of MAX store at V3S mall on October 3rd. Gimms Andrews, CFO of HOPE foundation, along with the Hockey stars of the film ‘Chak De India’, did the inauguration with the ribbon cutting followed by the ‘Lighting of lamp’ by Asharan Kids.
As the kids were waiting at the mall for the ’Chake De India‘ team to arrive, they started playing. Muskan was happy to see a huge store for the first time in her life! After exploring things around her, she went and sat with Gimms. She seemed to be recollecting her past. Slowly, Muskan started to narrate her story. She told how her mother would mistreat her and demand for her to go out and bring back money for them. Her mother would beat her up if Muskan failed. Showing a deep scar, she said, "One day my mother pushed me down from top of the stairs, as I wasn’t able to collect enough money. I was hurt.” During her initial days at Asharan, Muskan craved for many things like food, toys, clothes, attention and affection from adults and other’s possessions. Now Muskan is able to feel and appreciate everything that is good and beautiful around her. She is kind and generous in verbalizing her appreciation for good people around her and all the good things that happen to her. As she is re-discovering her lost childhood, she is also very caring to the other kids around her. Praise God for picking up Muskan from the street. She is learning to live up to her name, which means ‘smile’. She is a joy to be around.
