Eli Lilly employees support "Life for a Child" -- a program of the International Diabetes Federation

The diagnosis of diabetes for any child in any country is devastating. Fortunately, with access to appropriate education, insulin and equipment, children can manage their diabetes effectively. Sadly, most children living in developing countries do not have access to the life-saving medicines they need. As a result, they are chronically unwell, and prone to life-threatening episodes of high and low blood sugar levels. Many die quickly, others develop severe complications such as kidney failure, blindness and nerve damage. Those who survive frequently drop out of school, have difficulty getting a job or finding a marriage partner, and cannot support themselves as adults.
 
Eli Lilly employee support enabled the program to start helping children in three countries in Africa -- Rwanda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Donations support the most needy children at diabetes centers in these countries. This enables them to receive the insulin, syringes, monitoring, clinical care and diabetes education essential to stay alive. The centers provide thorough clinical and financial trail feedback. HOPE worldwide is a partner in this program.

Donations can either be given as a regular contribution or as a one-off donation. A Dollar a Day covers a child's care for a day - (you can give this as $30 per month or $92 per quarter or $365 per year). Donations are tax-exempt in the USA. We will provide you with regular updates on the program.
