American Red Cross Seeks Help as Hurricane Gustav Threatens the Region
“Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.” Isaiah 32:2

HOPE worldwide and The American Red Cross PartnershipAs Hurricane Gustav strengthens amid forecasts it will punish the U.S. Gulf Coast early next week, HOPE worldwide seeks individual, family and church group volunteers who want to help.

The need is expected to be great. The people of the Gulf Region are still suffering from the pain and loss of Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has stated that it is “very probable” he will call a mandatory evacuation.

HOPE worldwide anticipates working through our national partnership with the American Red Cross to staff 100 disaster response centers across a four state region.

Our nationwide network of caring volunteers and churches responds generously to needs like this. We will need many volunteers to be prepared to bring hope and change the lives of thousands of children and their families devastated by Hurricane Gustav across Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.

You will find updates on HOPE worldwide's response to this storm in the Gulf Coast region at:

Please prayerfully consider serving on a volunteer team making a difference, and fill out the form below if you are interested  in volunteering. Please be sure to list any special skills or interests on the volunteer form.

We will contact potential volunteers via email as we learn more about the needs and volunteer opportunities in the Gulf Coast region as the hurricane develops

Please keep the citizens of the Gulf Coast in your prayers.

Your financial support through much needed funds for HOPE worldwide’s disaster recovery efforts on the Gulf Coast will also be greatly appreciated.
