| Faces of Hope  A Life Renewed
Nairobi, Kenya: Three-year old Zawadi was sent to live with her grandmother in her rural home after her mother’s death. Soon after moving, Zawadi’s grandmother also died, forcing the young girl to move yet again, this time to the home of her aunt and uncle.
The great losses Zawadi experienced at such a young age left her sad and emotionally troubled. She had difficulty focusing on her studies and began to perform dismally in school. Her aunt and uncle were unable to provide the psychosocial care. Her father, unemployed and HIV+, brought her back to live with him in the Kibera slums. Wondering how he could support his daughter, Zawadi’s father approached the KenyaKids Child Sponsorship program, made possible by HOPE worldwide – Kenya and the Nairobi Christian Church. KenyaKids helped to provide the nutritional, medical, educational, spiritual and psychosocial support that she desperately needed. Zawadi is now able to live the joyful, hope-filled life that all children deserve.
