May 16, 2009 – Before an audience of more than 250 from around the globe, MTN Foundation was recognized as “Partner of the Year” at the HOPE worldwide Global Summit in Reston, Virginia.  MTN was honored this year as a result of its exceptional collaboration with HOPE worldwide in Nigeria and West Africa along with their exemplary commitment to strengthening and building communities.

Dr. Gary Jacques, HOPE worldwide Vice President, Global Programs, presented the award. According to Dr. Jacques, "We selected MTN Foundation as the Partner of the Year because of the impact the Partners Against AIDS in the Community program. It is encouraging to see the goal being realized of providing nutritional and psychological support to HIV and AIDS positive individuals registered in this support group. "

Find out more.He recalled that HOPE worldwide has in the past given the Partner of the Year award to organizations such as: AmeriCares, for their partnership in providing essential in-kind medical equipment and supplies to the Sihanouk Hospital of HOPE in Cambodia; the American Red Cross for its partnership regarding hurricane disaster response and fire prevention safety outreach to cities throughout the United States; Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, Emory University, and Rotarians for Fighting AIDS partnership to combat HIV and AIDS throughout Africa; and Wal-Mart for its partnership in Kenya and India to work with orphans and vulnerable children.

We congratulate the MTN Foundation and are grateful for their shared vision to empower the poor and needy so that all people will have access to quality healthcare, education, and an improved quality of life within their own community.
