HOPEWW VOLUNTEER CORPS

30 Years of Volunteer Corps

What?

HOPE worldwide Volunteer Corps' main purpose is mutually transforming engagement in

communities around the world. We partner with HOPE worldwide programs and local staff. We support the efforts of the local programs to restore communities badly affected by material poverty; we assist local efforts to teach children, train teachers, mentor youth, rebuild areas that have felt the impact of natural disasters, support sustainable agriculture programs, and engage with those without shelter, refugees, and seniors. Our programs are wide-reaching and support a multitude of needs across the globe. Our philosophy is one of reciprocal and respectful service. Our volunteers go in humility, striving to learn from the communities they engage with under the leadership of the local HOPEww programs,

and gaining an understanding of other cultures.

Why?

Volunteers leave an indelible mark of love on the lives of those they serve, and their own lives are forever changed as they build relationships and learn from the local communities.

Who?

Anyone! Whatever your age, wherever you live, whatever your skills, we have a Volunteer Corps for you!

Types of Corps:

  • Volunteer Corps: The all-generations Volunteer Corps is open to anyone - teens, families, campus students, singles, empty-nesters, etc. There will be a variety of service activities, and everyone will find their niche!
  • HOPE Youth Corps is for teens and campus students! Full of energy, zeal, and friendship-building!
  • Singles Corps is for our single/non-married volunteers. We love Singles Corps. Your skills will be put to use as you help build capacity in local HOPE worldwide programs.
  • Service Corps: If you want a longer service trip, maybe a few months instead of a few weeks, then you'll be interested in this service opportunity. You will be able to serve for a few months in places such as Nepal, Zambia, Kenya, Alaska, or Papua New Guinea (amongst many other locations), and use your education or professional skills. (all year round)

A note about the application process: Your application will be reviewed after we receive your completed application, including your recommendations and $400 deposit. Once you are accepted into the program, the deposit becomes non-refundable and is credited toward your participation fee.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 vaccination update! Please read before applying!

While COVID-19 vaccines are no longer a requirement for volunteering with HOPE worldwide, we do highly recommend that all volunteers be vaccinated against COVID-19 for your safety and the safety of your fellow volunteers and those you will be serving.

Please be advised that as the landscape for COVID-19 protocols shifts within the countries in which we serve, we will adhere to each country’s mandates. Each applicant will need to meet the vaccination requirements of the country in which they apply to serve as well as any airline requirements.

If you do test positive for COVID-19 while on a Community Service Brigade or HOPE worldwide Volunteer Corps and are not able to travel home on your original flights, HOPE worldwide will assist with acquiring your extended lodging. However, you will be responsible for any expenses incurred because of an extended stay. If you have questions or concerns, please contact hvc@hopeww.org.

If you are applying to a site within your home country, you must be 15 years of age or older.

If you are applying to a trip outside of your home country, you must be 18 years of age or older.

Those that are 15-18 years of age may attend with a chaperone who is over the age of 21, or a parent.

Parents may also take younger children on the trips. The age of younger children allowed to participate will vary by program (usually preteen and over; some trips can accommodate slightly younger children).

Please be advised: there are a few exceptions to the rule (ex. Bolivia, Papua New Guinea). Be sure to check the age requirement for the site you would like to attend.

Food Information (Allergies/Intolerance Issues): Our sites are not equipped to prepare special meals based on specific dietary preferences or allergies. The meals should have enough variety that you can pick from what is provided to meet your needs. If you have a serious medical food allergy or cannot tolerate this arrangement, please consider attending our Philadelphia HYC site which has a designated allergy kitchen. If you have issues with gluten or dairy, our sites in Asia are better suited for these dietary needs (rice-based diets). Our programs in Europe are not good sites for gluten and dairy issues.

If you still have questions after taking a good look at the website and detailed site descriptions, please contact hvc@hopeww.org or (833) 448-2677.
