Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE Spring 2010 Update

Visitors from Abroad
In April, the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE had the pleasure of hosting Professor Francoise Barre-Sinoussi, the 2008 Nobel Laureate in Medicine. Because the hospital is at the forefront in providing care and research for HIV patients in Cambodia, it was indeed a privilege to meet a pioneer in HIV/AIDS research.

After a successful board meeting in Tokyo, Randy Jordan, CEO of HOPE worldwide, travelled to Phnom Penh to encourage and spend time with the all the members of the hospital’s senior management team.

New Clinics
Also in April, the SHCH opened a small medical clinic inside the Phnom Penh International Airport. One doctor and one nurse work there four hours a day. The airport provides the space, supplies and salaries and the hospital is able to charge for lab and medicines.

HOPE worldwide is also opening two additional clinics this year as a source of revenue for the hospital.

Royal Ambassadors Golf Classic
In May, the SHCH hosted the Royal Ambassadors Golf Classic in Virginia to raise funds and thank those who have already donated to the hospital. It was attended by the Cambodian Ambassador to the United States as well as several famous golfers from the LPGA Legends Tour.

Overall $70,000 was collected for the hospital before and during the event, making it one of the most successful fundraising events we have had to date.
