On the Ground Leading the Rebuilding of Afghanistan 30 medical clinics and hospitals and 20 schools constructed in Afghanistan The Challenge Over 80% of Afghan schools were damaged or destroyed and the Afghan health care system ceased to exist in a modern sense during 25 years of war and occupation. The Innovation HOPE worldwide relief work in Afghanistan began under the Taliban regime. The team grew to include loyal and devoted Afghan specialists in health, education, logistics, construction, and engineering on the ground and uniquely positioned to contribute to rebuilding the country when Taliban rule ended.
