Hurricane Harvey was one of the most devastating weather events in the continental United States. It destroyed the homes of hundreds of thousands and tragically disrupted the lives of millions of Gulf Coast residents by dropping an estimated 27 trillion gallons of water and over 50 inches of rain during a span of 6 days across southeast Texas and Louisiana. Over 70,000 people were rescued, 33 Texas counties were under federal disaster declaration, and the estimated amount of financial loss was around $75 billion. While the amount of loss is daunting, the amount of love that continues to be shown to the region is overflowing. HOPE worldwide has and continues to be a mighty source of this love; and the HOPE worldwide Singles Disaster Corps in Houston, Texas, will be a dynamically impacting volunteer trip to aid in the recovery efforts from this storm.
