What?

Colorado is a beautiful state: full of mountains, sunshine, and national parks. It is also one of the primary landing areas for refugees fleeing their home countries due to war and brutality. During your time on the Denver HVC, we will be facilitating HOPEww's signature SPARK program for the children of refugee families. The SPARK program encourages the development of resilience through a trauma-research-informed curriculum, special projects, and psycho-social activities.

Alongside the week-long day camp for the kids, we will provide an ESL enrichment course to the parents. This will not only strengthen their language skills but also help cultivate deeper connections and increase cultural awareness.

We will also participate in several Denver HOPEww initiatives such as a community garden and a local refugee daycare/school. We will conclude our HVC with a special celebration picnic together with our friends from the refugee community!

The Denver Church is excited to welcome the HVC with meals, special devotionals, and the chance to build relationships across all generations. And of course, it would not be a trip to Colorado without ending the week with some time in the Rocky  Mountains! We are grateful that you would consider our beloved city to offer your time, heart, and support this summer. It is our prayer that as we share this experience together, you will leave inspired, encouraged, and with an even clearer sense of how to live out the mercy of Christ within your own communities!
