Honduras, Winter 2020

What?

There is a job for everyone! Volunteers from all professions and education/experience levels have been vital to our thriving brigades since 2010. We need YOUR help!

The birthplace of our CSB program, Honduras brigades date back to 2010. HOPE worldwide Honduras has a year-round clinic in Chamelecon serving thousands of neighbors annually.

During this mutually life-changing brigade experience, volunteers without medical backgrounds have the unique opportunity to (while volunteers with medical backgrounds treat patients):

  • Spend time with children while their parents visit healthcare professionals
  • Teach children (sometimes adults) how to properly brush their teeth
  • Apply fluoride treatment to teeth
  • Count thousands of vitamins and medications distributed each day
  • Distribute thousands of vitamins to help counter malnutrition
  • Distribute hundreds of anti-parasite treatments to help counter waterborne diseases
  • Welcome neighbors
  • Intake/Register/Prepare neighbors for the clinic
  • Escort/Guide/Direct neighbors through the process
  • Bilingual Volunteers can also help translate

Community Service Brigades are not possible without medical professionals! Globalize your healing art and sharpen medical wisdom as you address levels of need unknown in the developed world. Each brigade requires at least two adult doctors, two pediatricians, and one pharmacist. Dentists, Dental Hygienists, EMTs, Medical Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Medical Assistants, OBGyns, Psychosocial Support Professionals (with a master’s level certification or above), Specialty Doctors & more are desired so we can provide well-rounded medical care.

Students of Education, Healthcare, Nonprofit, Social Services and many others can gain direct experience in their field while making generational impact.

AUDIENCE: Individuals, Teams, and Families (anyone age 10+) from any background/experience/education/language level are encouraged to apply. Please email csb@hopeww.org regarding applicants younger than 10 years old to discuss possibilities.
