Hope Worldwide. Bringing Hope. Changing Lives.

Honduras

Community Service Brigade

(January 25 - January 28)

What?

Honduras is the site of the very first Community Service Brigade held in 2010 and the origin place of numerous HOPE worldwide program ideas. Outside of a brief hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, two brigades each year have been held providing high-quality medical and dental care to thousands in several locations within Honduras. Located in the heart of Central America, Honduras is rich in history and tradition. A rich agricultural heritage, stunning natural beauty, and warmth in the people make Honduras a great place to learn and come alongside volunteers from HOPE worldwide Honduras to carry out much-needed medical & dental treatment, education, and counseling. Community Service Brigades can’t happen without medical professionals! Ideally, we aim to have two adult doctors and two pediatricians. Psychosocial support professionals are also needed and must have a master’s level certification or above to serve in this capacity. Having dentists on the team allows local families to have well-rounded medical care. Pharmacists complete the team and provide critical oversight to the hundreds of prescriptions that are filled. While serving in Spanish-speaking communities, we are always in need of translators as well.

Why?

San Pedro Sula, the village of Monteverde, the Chamelecon neighborhood, and the Village of San Antonio de Majeda are a few of the locations that you will support. HOPE worldwide Honduras has a small, year-round clinic in Chamelecon that serves thousands in the community each year.
