Hope Worldwide. Bringing Hope. Changing Lives.

Nepal Volunteer Corps - 40+

(Sept 30 to Oct 8 or Sept 30 to Oct 12) FULL

What?

By popular demand, we are hosting our first Volunteer Corps for people over the age of 40 (no children allowed; we have another trip in December which is open to all ages). All the volunteers will spend the week in Kathmandu, engaging with the programs of HOPEww Nepal. We have a school, a vocational training center (computer classes and spoken English), and a women’s economic empowerment program (tailoring classes, beauty culture, and entrepreneurship training). For those who want to stay longer, we have the option of extending the trip by four days. Those four days will be spent in the village of Chhaimale (one and a half hours outside of Kathmandu) in the foothills of the Himalayas.

In Chhaimale we have a community center for the villagers, a fruit-processing factory that employs local women, a vocational training center, and a micro-loan program. We also partner with a local retirement home.No particular talents are needed, but we will use your skills (medical, education, IT, construction, etc).

Nepal is beautiful, has a lot of rich history, and the sights are amazing. If you wish to extend your stay beyond the Volunteer Corps, there are beautiful treks in the mountains, as well as many fun activities and sights to experience. October is the perfect time for trekking.

Kathmandu itself is in a valley, so altitude is not an issue (4,600 ft). Chhaimale is also not very high either (5,500 ft). The climate is mild and perfect in October. We have excellent medical facilities. Due to the age group for this trip, we will have a slightly slower pace to accommodate everyone.

This is not a Youth Corps!

Most of the young people leave the country to work abroad due to the lack of local opportunities. The situation is even more dire after the pandemic.
