Hope Worldwide. Bringing Hope. Changing Lives.

Kathmandu, Nepal 2 Volunteer Corps

(December 21 - January 4)

What?

Two weeks “on top of the world,” serving the HOPEww school and vocational training center in Week 1 and the new Center of HOPE in Chaimale in Week 2, a program started in a village two hours outside of Kathmandu after the 2015 earthquake. You will teach elementary school children, help renovate and beautify the Kathmandu school and the Chaimale Center of HOPE, run computer classes for young people, reach out to the community, teach health and hygiene lessons, and train the villagers in the use of water filters. All of that while spending Christmas and New Year with the community and the Kathmandu church! This will be our 11th Volunteer Corps in one of our most sustainable programs around the world. HOPEww has worked in Kathmandu for 27 years, and several teachers at the school are former students themselves! You will learn a lot from this amazing program and from the local culture while serving.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As part of a new pilot program, this trip will be a combination of service and teaching. An officially recognized ICOC teacher will come on the trip and teach lessons on the ministry of Jesus throughout the program. An opportunity not to miss!

Why?

Nepal is a country of amazing natural beauty, but the needs are many, including significant health needs. The main source of income for many Nepalese comes from tourism. Most of the young people leave the country to work abroad due to the lack of local opportunities.
