Arlene Amaya GSI Bio

I am a sophomore studying human development with a minor in social justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I went to Lusaka, Zambia, in 2017 and Bucharest, Romania, in 2018. Being able to work alongside people who had their heart centered around loving and giving to others opened my eyes and heart to the power of service. Going to different countries and seeing how people in hard circumstances devote their lives to God and furthering his mission is so uplifting and beautiful. My Service Corps have shown me that service is deeply embedded in my discipleship, and I should be striving to serve those around me on a daily basis. I am so excited for this journey as a GSI and am grateful I get to work with and serve alongside amazing people. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me on this journey!
