Meet DeVonté and Diana Harpool: Daily Point of Light Award Honorees

Meet Daily Point of Light Award honorees DeVonté and Diana Harpool. DeVonté Harpool recalls meeting a pregnant woman while volunteering, saying she’d told him she was looking for a sign that everything would be okay, and that his service answered her call. That uplifting moment sat with the 28-year-old Indianapolis, Indiana, resident because it was then that he recognized there would always be someone out there with needs or wants.
The Daily Point of Light Award celebrates the power of individuals to lead and lend support to causes they care about and honors individuals who act on their power to do good every day, using their hearts, hands, and minds to help strengthen communities and solve persistent problems.
Volunteering with HOPE worldwide Indianapolis for the past five years, DeVonté and his wife, Diana, have connected with thousands across Indianapolis and more recently, boosted their service to address serious needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through volunteerism, DeVonté and Diana are inspiring greater hope to hurting communities by helping children and families in their city.
