  • The training had amazing guest speakers like Ben Barnett, our Chief Evangelist; Pamela Stringfield, Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator at FCS Ministries; Cambrie Vergiere, one of our National Youth Advisory Council Members; and Carmen Hamilton, Denver HOPE worldwide Chapter Director. Here are some key takeaways from the event:
Mutuality lends itself to balancing charity and dignity.
  • Good intentions are not enough and can actually cause harm.
  • We need to be curious participants, proximate, and willing to partner.
  • Giving our time to pursue crucial conversations is also an act of generosity.
  • A very important question to ask in this kind of giving is “Who does the hero need to be in this story?”

UPDATE 6.24.21

Have you heard of the concept of “doing with” rather than “doing for”? Have you thought about how you can create a meaningful exchange when donating to your local community? Did you know that donating school supplies, clothing and holiday toys can sometimes hurt rather than help, no matter how good our intentions?

HOPE worldwide is excited to announce our second online US training for all volunteers, supporters, and friends titled “How To Honor Your Neighbors’ Dignity When Donating.”

You’ll be able to hear from Ben Barnett, our Chief Evangelist; Pamela Stringfield, Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator at FCS Ministries; Cambrie Vergiere, one of our National Youth Advisory Council Members; and Carmen Hamilton, Denver HOPE worldwide Chapter Director.

This online training session will take place via Facebook Live Thursday, July 15, 8 pm EST / 5 pm PST.
