HYC Anchorage: My Experience Isn’t Over Yet
Michael Reyes’ lifechanging experience in Anchorage, Alaska has inspired him to continue transforming his life even as he returns home. Read all about it below!
“Going to Alaska for two weeks has been the biggest adventure of my life. I made friends that will last a lifetime, and learned more about myself and my God than I was expecting. I grew physically, mentally and spiritually, but what I’m most proud of is that my experience isn’t over yet.Flying 2000 miles to Anchorage, I was expecting life change, but I had no idea what that meant or what it entailed. In reflection, I find that life change is changing the way you think! I had no make-it-or-break-it ultimate moment, but the camp messed with my mind. Every day we were pushed to look at life spiritually. To reflect and think about what we were doing and how it connected to God’s ultimate plan. I was equipped to make all the time spent working spiritual by changing the way I thought. I was given powerful lessons and then told to back them up by scripture. I was tasked with finding spiritual connections, backing them up with scripture, and then determining how to apply them at home. Accountability helped me to stay on this course and I found a whole new respect for God’s living and active word. I’m left with a thirst to learn and memorize more scripture and focus my mind of Philippians 4:8 thoughts.
