Global Call for Prayer

Brothers and Sisters, as we write there are 3 hurricanes in the Atlantic and another one in the Pacific threatening Hawaii. Super Typhoon Mangkhut has hit Guam and is threatening the Philippines.

HOPE worldwide’s Global Disaster Response team is monitoring all these life-threatening disasters and is communicating preparedness information to threatened areas. In the US, Hurricane Florence is now a very dangerous category 2 Hurricane that is expected to make landfall somewhere in North Carolina. In the threatened areas in the US, Caribbean and Philippines, there are over 50 ICOC Congregations with over 15,000 of our brothers and sisters. Around the world over 200 Million people are currently in the path of a Hurricane or Typhoon.

Many are asking what they can do. For now, the answer is simple. PRAY!

Pray for the safety of our Brothers and Sisters.

Pray for the affected communities.

Pray for those who respond to these disasters.

We will continue to post updates as needed on our website and through our Communications Partners at DisciplesToday and ICOCHotnews.

On a recent visit to serve with HOPE worldwide Bolivia, I had the honor of meeting an incredible young man named Farid. Over the past 8 years, Farid has lived at Casa Esperanza, a boys home for abandoned children, and a longtime partner of HOPE ww Bolivia. For nearly a decade, HOPE ww has come alongside these vulnerable children with literacy, mentorship, and other support programs to help them graduate and find a job and community where they can thrive.
